Summer is in full swing and the Fourth of July is fast approaching. What better way to spend the day than with friends and family at Fishermen’s Village! Come out to join us on this great American holiday.
The fun kicks off at 11:00 am. Children of all ages will enjoy Metamasque face painting and Jeff the Juggler. Musicians will be taking the stage to keep you entertained. “Beans and Seeds” will be playing eclectic music on Center Stage from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm. And “Mercy” will have you dancing away from 5:00 -9:00 pm.
Celebrate our country’s freedom with the Freedom Swim. The mile and a half swim is an annual happening that many locals enjoy. This year’s Freedom Swim will start at 12:00 noon on the 4th. The swim will commence from the public beach at the west side of the north end of the southbound U. S. 41 Bridge. Discussion with swimmers before the start will occur at 11:50 am. For convenience, a trolley will be running between Fishermen’s Village and the public beach from 11:00 am. until 4:00 pm. If swimming Charlotte Harbor is not your thing, get here early to get your spot at Harpoon Harry’s; you can cheer on the crowds while you relax with food and drink in hand.
In addition to the extra festivities for the day, our boutiques and restaurants will be open. Visit Beneath the Sea and Island Fever for fun summer fashions. Captain’s Landing has men’s fashions covered, while Palms on the Pier and Bijoux have summery fashions for ladies. Cool off with frozen yogurt from Island Life Yogurt or Norman Love gelato from Simply Sweet. Stores will be open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, and restaurants will be open 11:30 am to 10:00 pm.
