The holiday season is right around the corner and Fishermen’s Village has tons of events planned throughout November and December to get you in the holiday spirit! You don’t want to miss any of the fun we have in store!
The excitement starts on November 17th at 5:30pm with the Festival of Lights kickoff event, “The Lighting of The Village.” Fishermen’s Village has decked the halls with over one million lights and holiday decorations! At the event, all of the lights will be turned on at once and remain on until December 31st. Watching the holiday cheer spread through The Village is breath taking! As the lights turn on, Santa and Punta Gorda City Council Officials will be holding the official ribbon cutting to begin the Holiday Shopping Season. After the official ribbon cutting, the Lee County Pipes and Drums will parade through the village, leading everyone into The Village to see all the decorations.
That’s only the start! There will be pictures with Santa so bring your cameras. Riding Star Ranch is holding horse drawn carriage rides for an enchanting night under the stars. Dance the night away with the Boogiemen Band playing from 5:00-9:00pm, and listen to the concords of String of Pearls Barbershop Harmony 6:00-7:300pm and Charlotte Choral Dickens Carolers 5:00-8:00pm. For kids – and kids at heart – there will be free airbrushed face and body art and free balloon creations by Luis The Balloon Man. When you get tuckered out from all the entertainment and holiday shopping, just grab complimentary refreshment! For all of this fun and entertainment, admission is a canned food donation for the Good Samaritans Food Pantry.
The excitement continues throughout the Holiday season! There will be free entertainment every night throughout the Festival of Lights November 17th to December 31st. Several church groups will be performing on center stage: the Peace River Baptist Church Cantata is on December 13th and 21st at 7:00pm, and the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda is putting on a Christmas chorus and nativity seen with real miniature animals on December 18th thru the 20th from 7:00 to 9:00pm. And, don’t miss Tuba Christmas on December 22nd 5:00 to 6:00pm! There will also be extended shopping hours. The stores will be open Monday-Saturday 10:00am to 8:00pm, and on Sundays from noon to 6:00pm. Santa is even taking time off from his workshop to enjoy the festivities every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday afternoon up through December 23rd so keep your cameras ready! Don’t forget to donate a toy to a needy child by putting it under the Salvation Army Angel Tree outside Beneath the Sea.
Fishermen’s Village isn’t the only thing lit up with holiday cheer. King Fisher Fleet will be hosting Christmas Light Cruises December 5th through the 31st. The relaxing boat ride down the local canals offers a whole new angle on Christmas light viewing. Call (941) 639-0969 to make your cruise reservation. For more boating fun, join us on December 16th for the annual Lighted Boat Parade.
