It’s my favorite time of year, the time when kids can fry eggs on the sidewalk, the time when sand and pavement alike burn your feet, yes the hottest time of the year: summertime. As a Floridian myself, I was raised in the heat, I have become ectothermic with overlapping scales forming on my back. Like snakes, I live to bake in the sun along with most Floridians under the age of 40 (let’s face it 40 and under make up a small percent of Florida). This summer I am pleased to notice that Florida residents are embracing the constant heat, sun, and humidity instead of complaining like the rest of the country trying to adapt to this heat wave.
Yes Florida is hot, but isn’t that what people look for on a summer vacation? Florida’s 663 miles of beaches do not disappoint, offering clear water, powder white sand, and shade under the palm trees, Florida is the perfect summer oasis. Seista Beach, in Sarasota Fl, is currently ranked the second best beach in the entire nation. With some of the finest, whitest sand in the world, the beach’s unpolluted sand and crystal blue water is a must see. Siesta also offers numerous recreational opportunities, including unique underwater formations that attract snorkelers and scuba divers alike.
Just an hour south is Punta Gorda, where Fishermen’s Village is located. We offer a quaint, small town charm. Come and stroll through our downtown district filled with independently owned boutiques and restaurants. Of course when visiting Punta Gorda, stop by Fishermen’s Village, the town’s waterfront mall on beautiful Charlotte Harbor. Whether a beautiful beach or a natural harbor, the west coast of Florida is the perfect summer getaway and oil free. 🙂
