The Wash Basin- A Shabby-Chic Gem

As the door opens, aromas linger out into the hallway, transfixing passing consumers. The Wash Basin, created by Joanne Brook, holds a variety of natural soaps (olive oil and goats milk) and sachets that give the quaint store its aromatic charm.  From the moment the door opens, the warmth and a sense of hearth and home is overwhelming. The hand painted yellow walls brighten up the small shop, while the charming lattice adds to decoration and doubles as a display wall.

Walking into the store, Crocs are the first item in sight, owner Marian Miller says “they are crucial for her business.” The wide selection of Crocs enables the store to sell other unique items, widening the variety of goods the shop has to offer. Once you get passed the first layer of Crocs and the second layer of soaps, the Wash Basin is filled with shabby-chic antiques.

The owner, Marian Miller took over ownership of the Wash Basin in 2006. Before taking ownership, Ms Miller worked at Fish Ville in the Wash Basin for 6 years under the store’s creator Joanne Brook. Ms Brook had an artistic background that is showcased in the craftsmanship and creative flare the Wash Basin displays. Miller operates the store with a heavy heart of gratitude toward Brook, giving her significant credit for the store’s success.
