It’s the time we have all been waiting for, this past Monday marked the first day of summer. Fellow Floridians would agree that the first day of summer seems long overdue. 90 degree weather began in May and will continue to plateau to the end of September. Finding ways to enjoy Florida’s sunshine without the heat is difficult. Boating seems like a nice compromise right, out in the sun but cooled by the ocean breeze? Only one problem, most people don’t have a boat at their fingertips. No problem, Fishermen’s Village offers several recreational activities including harbor cruises, boat rentals, and yacht sales. For those looking to avoid the heat of the sun rays, Fish Ville offers boutiques and resaurants for liesure. This summer join Fish Ville in their 30th year of business and experience the harbor in a new way. Lather up the sun screen and put on a swim suit and set sail for a summer of fun at Fishermen’s Village!
Today is one of many Fish Ville events, “The Village In Verse.” Promised to be a family affair, the event kicks off with face painting, storytelling, and a children’s poetry contest with the theme “What do you love about Fishermen’s Village?” This unique event caters to adults as well as children. Later in the day a plethora of FREE one hour workshops will be offered including presenting writing aloud, community histories, personification and believabilty of animal characters, along with catastrophic illness. Mirroring the children’s earlier poetry contest, the same theme “What do you love about Fishermen’s Village?” will be the topic for the adult poetry contest. Both the adult and children’s poetry contest offer prizes to the winners. Children recieve goody bags and adults recieve home prizes of two sunset cruises, a gift certificate to the Oyster Bar, and a Fish Ville T-shirt! Guests may mingle and listen to local authors while trying $1 samples of favorite menu items of The Village. Diverse groups and blend together into the creative pool of Fishermen’s Village.
