Celebrating 30 Years

While the actual grand opening date is debated Fishermen’s Village opened its doors in 1980. Preserving history, Fish Ville was built on the old fishing docks of Punta Gorda. Stepping onto the property transports locals back to 1928, when the Maud Street City Docks (old Punta Gorda fishing docks) were built. King street pier, currently it is the location of the Village Oyster Bar, was home to fish packing houses that were an integral part of society in the 1920’s. Keeping with the tradition of the fishing piers, King Fisher Fleet, offers boat tours and fishing cruises. King Fisher cruises have been around since the beginning of Fishermen’s Village and have won numerous accolades including best charter boat company in Charlotte County for the past 15 years! A strong supporter of the community, King Fisher offers special holiday packages. In celebration of Father’s Day, this weekend from sunset Friday to Sunday at sunset, all fathers ride free!

Currently, Fish Ville is reconnecting with their roots and bringing back “A Taste of Florida” with a modern twist. On June 26th Fishermen’s Village hosts ” The Village In Verse: A Taste of The Village” from 10am to 8pm. Keeping with tradition, a sampling of the finest food of The Village will be offered. Modernizing the event, Fishermen’s Village and Peace River Center for Writers are featuring youth and adult poetry contests, workshops, music, an open mic, and literary readings. After 30 years Fish Ville looks back at past events and revives its history. We hope you come out to help us celebrate 30 years of shopping, dining, and entertainment!
